The Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague is one of the best educational institutions in the country and its graduates are respected experts in their field. Besides education, the Academy is also engaged in exhibition activities. At the end of each semester there is a school-wide presentation of the student´s works – so-called “Artsemester”. In addition, AAAD in Prague organizes more than 15 exhibition events a year, half of them abroad. The so called UM Gallery has been operated in the main building since 2001 and its exhibition program focuses on the presentation of works by students and school graduates. AAAD also runs the NIKA Student Gallery in the area of the B metro subway on Charles Square.

The Academy of Fine Arts in Prague is the oldest art school in the Czech lands  in the Czech Republic. It was originally founded in 1799 as drawing academy and started its activities a year later. In 1990, a fundamental reform took place, which opened AFA Prague to the full range of the artistic approaches characteristic for contemporary art. Currently, the Academy has 18 studios, where students can be educated in painting, graphics, sculpture, drawing, new media and intermedia creation to architecture and the restoration of paintings and sculptures. AFA Prague is also an important cultural institution that participates in the formation and development of culture and society.

The Department of Archaeology and Museology organizationally includes the humanities subjects, archaeology, classical archaeology and museology. Its integral part is the Department of Museology whose history goes back to the 1960s and is associated with prominent figures of the world museology Jan Jelínek and Zbyněk Zbyslav Stránský. The Department conducts professional training programs for students in the bachelor’s or master’s cycles; and scientific research that includes the field of historical museology, museum presentation and museum pedagogy.

The Department of European Ethnology is a leading pedagogical and scientific institution. In its programs, it offers the study of ethnology as a comparative science of human and his culture and connects the approaches of historical and social sciences. Connection between the Faculty of Arts in Brno and the Technical University is an unusual one not only in the Czech Republic but all around the world, which allows art students closer contact with modern technologies. The Faculty has been educating students in the fields of animated and audiovisual production and design as well as marketing and art management since its establishment in 2002. Since 2018, the Faculty has had its own gallery called G18 right on the Tomas Bata University campus. The Institute of Art History of the Czech Academy of Sciences is a public research institution contributing significantly to the knowledge and protection of European cultural values. The Institute was founded in 1953 as the Department for Theory and Art History of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences. The Chair was established in 1994 by concluding the agreement between representatives of UNESCO and the Masaryk University, so it became the first institution of its kind in the Czech Republic. The department aims to support the societal awareness of museums’s role for the sustainable development of society, strengthening its importance and knowledge of the memory of past generations.
