Opened in Ro\u017enov pod Radho\u0161t\u011bm in relation with the \u201cWallachian Year 1\u201d first held in July 1925, it is one of the oldest open air museums in Europe. It shows vernacular architecture of the Moravian Wallachia region, both from urban and rural environments; it cares for buildings in Pustevny designed by Du\u0161an Jurkovi\u010d. It makes accessible its open air museums Vesel\u00fd Kopec and Betl\u00e9m Hlinsko. The scope of research and collecting covers the whole ethnographic area of Slov\u00e1cko (Moravian Slovakia). As to the field of archaeology and history, the institution pays attention to one important era &#8211; Great Moravia, the first stable princedom of West Slavs. The Museum\u2019s branch &#8211; the Museum of Folk Distilleries in Vl\u010dnov shows the domestic production of distillates in the Moravian-Slovak borderland. It conducts research, processes, stores and releases information on intangible heritage in the Czech Republic. It administers 45 hectares of vegetation and 99 estates in total, seven of which are heritage-listed, e.g. the castle building and neighboring park; the historical brewery building \u2013 today the entrance to the Str\u00e1\u017enice Museum of Villages of South-East Moravia (Open Air Museum Str\u00e1\u017enice).
